Our Community Partnerships

Beneficent Church is gifted with significant physical resources in downtown Providence. With this location, we are grateful to be able to support the work of community partners whose missions are closely allied with our own.

Sometimes that takes the form of hosting one-time events for a traveling theater group or a visiting choir. Other times, we offer support by entering long-term residency agreements with an organization. Today, these are groups that call Beneficent Church “home”:

Better Lives Rhode Island

Better Lives Rhode Island (BLRI) is on a mission to “help people better their own lives by providing hope and support for a better tomorrow—and food security and homeless services to get through today. From their Providence food pantry and day center to outreach across the state, Better Lives RI is here for those experiencing hunger and homelessness in Rhode Island.”

In August 2019, my daughter and I left everything we knew and moved to Rhode Island. We were sadly aware that we were now over an hour away from family and from our church community. Two Sundays passed in our new home before we ventured into the large building downtown with the big dome. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Joyous music lifted our hearts...then we heard the greeting. My daughter moved in close and whispered, "we found a church home."

Beneficent has been my spiritual family for many years, and I love that its members and friends accept and support me as I am, even as I make my, at times, clumsy-fumbling way along the path Jesus blazed.

Each Sunday I would submit prayer request for the trials and tribulations I was facing, and all my prayers have been answered this past year because of the dedicated group prayers held at Beneficent Church and our Higher Power answering them.
