Music Program

Underlying every worship experience at Beneficent is the music. On any given Sunday, you might hear from the talented musicians who participate in our Youth Music Program or a solo from a visiting musician, and most worship services engage the talents of our enthusiastic and diverse choir.

The music for worship is thoughtfully chosen and carefully integrated with the theme of the sermon or season. Those selections help to tell the story of that day’s worship – strengthening the message and supporting the atmosphere to create a powerful worship experience.

Thanks to the wide-ranging interests of our ministers and the versatility of our Beneficent choir and Minister of Music, those musical choices come from all traditions: spirituals, contemporary Christian music, traditional church music, and mainstream songs.

What I have come to love even more as I have gotten more involved is that, while Beneficent is far from perfect, it is a place of ACTIVE Faith engagement Faith in action and singing with the choir are what I love about being a part of Beneficent.

I remember the first day I attended Beneficent Church. I was slightly nervous about meeting new people and questioned if I would be truly welcomed. This was the first time all the shame withered away because I was valued and accepted by everyone I encountered.

It wasn’t long after we started attending services that we heard the calling to help with the music ministry, which is as diverse as the membership. Over the years, the music ministry has used hymnals, spirituals, chorales, gospels, contemporary and traditional music to uplift the congregation to higher heights of praises. We have come to rely on our fellow choir members for weekly spiritual strength and always look forward to sharing our gifts with our church family with our songs. I believe we make a joyful noise for our Lord!
