SCOPE OF POSITION: The Nursery Worker provides dependable, safe, and nurturing care to children, from infants through pre-school. The Nursery Worker reports to the Director of Christian Education and works cooperatively with the staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

• Welcome families to the nursery, complete the sign-in process for each child, and confirm onsite contact information for parent/guardian. Help adults to feel comfortable and confident leaving their children.

• Engage in age-appropriate activities and provide care as needed.

• In the event of an emergency or concern with a child’s well-being, notify the adult via their contact information.

• Manage the pickup process for each child, reporting activities to the parent/guardian.

• Maintain a safe and clean environment, tidying the space after each session and disinfecting toys, supplies, doorknobs, handles, and other high-touch areas using the cleaning products provided.

• Record attendance for the church’s files.

• Manage inventory of all needed supplies (e.g. diapers, cleaning products) and report any concerns. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Experience supervising children for an extended period of time.

• Calm and capable in handling the needs of young children and willing to engage enthusiastically with them in age-appropriate activities.

• Responsible, trustworthy, and reliable, and able to be friendly, professional, and people-focused.

• Willingness to support the Beneficent Mission and to abide by the Beneficent Safe Space Policies and Procedures and the Beneficent Relational Covenant.  

POSITION DETAILS: This is a part-time, non-benefited position for three (3) hours per week on Sunday mornings. Work hours generally align with the church’s Sunday schedule (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.), occasionally with longer or shorter hours to accommodate church programming.  You will have the option of working during additional worship services and events throughout the year. The hourly pay range is from $19-22, depending on qualifications.
