About Us

Who is Beneficent Church?

Beneficent Church’s long story is rich – full of rebellion and community, innovation and civic-mindedness, and always a commitment to creating a loving faith community in a vital and vibrant part of Providence.

Our members are diverse in all ways it’s possible to be diverse: queer and straight, white and Black, rich and poor, Christian and agnostic. And our worship style, programs, and events reflect that diversity.

The joy of such diversity is that there’s always room at the table for one more. That one could be you.

What Do We Stand For?

We set a high standard for how we want to live out our faith.

About the UCC

What does it mean to belong to the United Church of Christ?

The Beneficent Church community exemplifies and lives out the
affirmation, “All are welcome” —something churches often profess but fail to honor. In Beneficent Church, we have been embraced as we are and have found our long-sought-after spiritual home.

Leslie and John Felker

I am proud to be a lifelong member of Beneficent! I grew up in our
Sunday School, married another Beneficent member who sang in the choir, and raised our family in our Sunday School.

Irene Hope

Beneficent was a Godsend to me when I was grieving the loss of my parents. I found it to be a comforting and completely accepting place for me personally.
