About the UCC

Beneficent Church belongs to the United Church of Christ (SNEUCC=) – a mainline Protestant Christian denomination based in the United States, with historical confessional roots in the Congregational, Reformed, and Lutheran traditions.

Congregational churches have been a part of New England’s history since early days. True to that spirit of colonial independence, each Congregational church governs itself and decisions are made by its own leaders who reflect the flavor, culture, and interests of those who make up its body.

To learn more about our local UCC conference – a regional body which includes representatives from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut – visit their website.

The Beneficent Church community exemplifies and lives out the
affirmation, “All are welcome” —something churches often profess but fail to honor. In Beneficent Church, we have been embraced as we are and have found our long-sought-after spiritual home.

I am proud to be a lifelong member of Beneficent! I grew up in our
Sunday School, married another Beneficent member who sang in the choir, and raised our family in our Sunday School.

Irene Hope

Beneficent was a Godsend to me when I was grieving the loss of my parents. I found it to be a comforting and completely accepting place for me personally.
