Weddings

At Beneficent Church, we gladly officiate weddings for Beneficent members and for those who are not currently part of our community. We unite couples regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression because we believe all are beloved children of God entitled to create nurturing families. Straight or queer or anywhere along the spectrum, we believe that all are beloved children of God and, as such, all are entitled to create unions of Christian love.

Note that we do require that both members of the engaged couple meet with one of our ministers in advance, and we strongly recommend that you attend our regular Sunday worship several times to become familiar with our community, our spirit, and the space. You may also want to bring family and friends who will be part of the ceremony so they can come to know us as well.

For more information about being married from our beautiful historic church in downtown Providence, please contact us at office@beneficentchurch.org.

We are a very diverse congregation, welcoming and accepting all who enter our doors. Beneficent not only talks the talk but walks the walk! This is why I love Beneficent and happily continue to worship, serve the congregation, and practice my faith.

Irene Hope

My husband and I are very happy to be a part of the Beneficent Church family, in this day and age of marriage equality and acceptance of all God’s people. A blanket of love was found here. In our 25 years together we have searched Rhode Island for a spiritual home and found Beneficent to be genuine, accepting us and our “Lady Lucy” (miniature Schnauzer/West Highland Terrier) for who we are.

Michael and Bill, and Lucy, too

I was looking for a place I could feel whole, and my search was over once I began attending Beneficent Church. I am very grateful for each brother and sister who attends because it wouldn’t be as welcoming and loving without them.
